TERMS OF SERVICE
These terms govern all services provided by Zulia Parlour, located at Zulia Place, Katani Road, Syokimau, and Baraka Court Mall, Lavington, Nairobi, Kenya. By receiving an order number, depositing goods with us, or booking any of our cleaning services, you agree to these terms.
Goods Acceptance
We accept your items for cleaning with care and professionalism. While we exercise reasonable care to ensure the safety of items entrusted to us, items are accepted at your sole risk and responsibility.
Receipt, Notification & Delivery
An order invoice or receipt is issued when you deposit laundry, carpets, curtains, duvets or other items with us. Please keep it for reference, collection or delivery.
We'll send you a WhatsApp message, SMS, call or other notification when your items are ready. Once the items are ready and payment has been received, we will arrange delivery where delivery has been requested or agreed.
If you do not receive a notification within the expected processing period, please contact us to check on the status of your order. It remains your responsibility to follow up on your order and ensure that payment is made once the items are ready.
Where delivery has not been arranged or you prefer to collect the items, you may collect them from the relevant Zulia Parlour location after payment has been made.
Uncollected Goods & Storage Charges
Items should be collected promptly once they are ready.
A storage charge of KSh 200 per item per week will apply to items that remain uncollected after they are ready for collection. The storage charge is calculated separately for each item in an order and begins from the date the items are marked as ready.
If items remain uncollected for 30 days from the date they became ready, Zulia Parlour may commence the applicable process for disposal or sale of uncollected goods in accordance with the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Cap. 38, Laws of Kenya, including any notices required by law.
Items will not necessarily be disposed of automatically on the 30th day, and any sale or disposal will be subject to the applicable legal requirements.
Ownership Declaration
Items are presumed to belong to the person depositing them unless you declare otherwise at the time of deposit. Where an item belongs to another person, this should be disclosed when the order is placed.
Cleaning Process
We determine the best cleaning, washing, drying, extraction, pressing or treatment process based on our technical expertise and the nature and condition of the item.
We're not responsible for shrinkage, colour loss, colour bleeding, change in texture, loss of finish or damage resulting from the characteristics or inherent weaknesses of materials during a cleaning process we deem necessary.
Where items have no care labels or cleaning instructions, we will use our professional judgement in selecting the appropriate process.
Accessories & Trimmings
While we take reasonable care, we're not liable for damage to or loss of buttons, buckles, ornaments, zips, belts, padding, beads, sequins or other accessories and trimmings during cleaning, particularly where such items are loose, fragile, defective, deteriorated or weakened.
Curtains, Carpets, Duvets & Special Fabrics – Important Notice
Some materials naturally react during cleaning. Here's what to expect:
Shrinkage: New or untreated curtains, carpets, duvets and fabrics, particularly those containing cotton, linen or blends, may shrink during cleaning. This may be a natural fabric reaction rather than a defect in our process.
Colour Loss: Fabrics exposed to prolonged sunlight may fade or bleed during cleaning. This may be due to prior sun exposure or deterioration of the dyes rather than our cleaning methods.
Plastic or PVC Linings: Curtains with plastic or PVC lining may crack, tear, peel or stick to the fabric during cleaning due to the natural deterioration of these materials over time.
Sheer Fabrics: Sheer materials such as voile, chiffon and organza are sensitive and may snag, tear or develop other damage during handling or cleaning despite reasonable care.
Carpets: Carpets may experience colour changes, shrinkage, bleeding, backing deterioration or other reactions depending on their material, age, previous treatment and condition.
Duvets: Duvets and other filled items may experience changes in shape, filling distribution, shrinkage or damage to stitching depending on their construction and condition.
These outcomes may result from normal wear and tear, inherent material weaknesses or pre-existing conditions and fall outside our liability. We follow available care labels and use professional techniques, but Zulia Parlour is not responsible for inherent material weaknesses or pre-existing wear.
Liability for Loss or Damage
We've implemented measures to prevent loss or damage, but we cannot guarantee that such situations will never occur. By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that:
We're not responsible for the loss or damage of personal items or valuables left inside laundry, bags, pockets, carpets, curtains, duvets or other items submitted for cleaning, including keys, earphones, money, jewellery or other valuables.
We're not responsible for normal wear and tear on clothing, carpets, curtains, duvets or other items that may occur during collection, cleaning, handling and delivery, including loosening, shrinkage, tears, breakage of zippers or fasteners, loss of buttons, fading, stains, fabric fatigue, holes or abrasions.
We're not responsible for damage resulting from your request that directly contradicts the manufacturer's care label or recommended cleaning method.
We do not guarantee the removal of all stains from any clothing, carpet, curtain, duvet or fabric.
We're not responsible for the loss of any item unless it is established that the loss resulted from the negligence of our employees.
Absence of Care Instructions
If no care label or cleaning instructions are provided by the manufacturer or you, we'll clean the goods at our discretion and subject to the risks associated with the item's material and condition.
House & Corporate Cleaning
For house cleaning and corporate cleaning services, we will provide the agreed cleaning services with reasonable care and professionalism.
Customers are responsible for informing us of fragile items, valuable property, special surfaces, restricted areas, special cleaning instructions or any other conditions that may affect the cleaning service.
Zulia Parlour is not responsible for damage resulting from pre-existing defects, weakened materials, faulty fittings, improperly installed items or undisclosed special instructions.
For corporate cleaning services, the agreed quotation, scope of work and service arrangement will apply together with these terms.
Complaints Procedure
If you have concerns about the condition of an item or the quality of our cleaning service, please submit your complaint within 24 hours of collection or delivery for review by our management or technical representative.
Customers should not alter, repair, re-clean or otherwise modify a disputed item before Zulia Parlour has had an opportunity to inspect it.
Force Majeure
We're not liable for loss, damage, delay or theft due to riots, strikes, public disturbances, war, insurrection, natural disasters, fire, flooding or similar events beyond our reasonable control.
Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from these terms shall first be addressed amicably between the customer and Zulia Parlour.
If the dispute cannot be resolved amicably, either party may pursue the appropriate dispute resolution mechanism or legal remedy available under the laws of Kenya.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes not resolved amicably shall be dealt with in accordance with the applicable laws and jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
Payment Before Dispatch or Release
At Zulia Parlour, payment for all services and items, including laundry, carpets, curtains, duvets and other cleaning services, is required before dispatch or delivery.
Clients who prefer not to pay in advance are welcome to collect their items in person at the shop, where they can inspect and verify the items, then make payment before the items are released and taken home.
Any applicable storage charges must also be settled before items are released.
Entire Agreement
These Conditions of Acceptance constitute the agreement between Zulia Parlour and you in relation to the services provided. Any amendments or special arrangements should be agreed in writing by both parties.
By depositing items with us or booking our cleaning services, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
